Elana Baziz is a fine artist and fashion designer, based in New York City. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Elana moved to NYC at age 17 to attend Parsons School of Design where she received a BFA in fashion. After finishing school, Elana gained valuable experience working with top designers such as Marc Jacobs and Diane Von Furstenberg.  In 2010,  she went back to school to earn a Master’s degree at the New York Academy of Art for figurative painting as well as artistic anatomy. Since then, she has continued to pursue both passions and her subsequent work reflects a fusion between her love of art and fashion. She is known for her series of oil paintings titled “Valley of the Dolls” in which she realistically depicts the classic pattern maker’s dress form, handled with the same delicacy and detail as one would paint the flesh of a nude figure. Other series in her portfolio include highly stylized portraits of people and pets produced in a variety of mediums. Her portrait style evokes Hopper’s scenes of isolation and voyeurism with a touch of film Noir.
